Comments/Followers: If you frequent Dre Saves Money....

I'm finding it hard to gauge if taking the time to blog my findings and savings is helpful or if my list of resources is useful...

So I should share with you my goals, so I can determine if I'm hitting the mark......My goal is 2 things...First, provide a one stop shop for websites and links that others (and myself) can use to check for weekly deals or to sign up for free samples or coupons..this way even if not on your or my own main computer, the list of resources is always available. (There's nothing I hate more than being at a computer not my own and not having my favorites list to check! :) ) Second, I want to pass on the things I learn/find from my coupon friends (thanks to Jennifer W, Tana, and Lisa for getting me started and being my most frequent resources of information!)

If you use the blog list or find the posts helpful, I would love if you would leave a comment on what is helpful when you see it so I can leave more of that. Since I work and blogging takes part of my spare time, I don't always post everything I find, just things I think might be helpful to others. It would be good to know if you are using the list, or the posts, or both. (If I find it's not used as a resource, I may discontinue the blogging/posting piece)

Better yet - If you are already on Blogspot become a follower on the right hand side bar!

Here's to hoping we have many more savings filled weeks/months/years to come!

$40.00 of restaurant gift certificates for $.1.20 each!

More restaurant.com deals!!

FREEbies, including 9 audiobooks from Barnes & Noble!

Another new site I found: The Thrify Mama : The Thifty Mama main page

She has a freebie list and I found some that I haven't seen yet....And I am a little surprised that's possible after all of the free things I signed up for yesterday - I would guess I'm getting about 16 or 17 free things in the mail AND I found a bunch of coupons for things I always buy!

New Sites

I have added Redbox to my "sign up" list and Money Saving Mom to my blog list! (Thanks to my friend Abby for the blog suggestion!!!)

Last weekend haul: CVS

So I pretty much got paid to shop at Walgreens, got everything for free at CVS and saved a bunch at Target...as Monk would say...here's what happened...

CVS:

Watch the CVS ad for things that are free after extra bucks (A posting that tells you about CVS bucks HERE)
Colgate toothbrush or toothpaste $3.99 - $3.99 extra bucks = FREE

Softsoap $4.99 - $4.99 with extra bucks = FREE

In the description, it shows that Sobe Life Water is part of the Buy One Get One Free ad and also had a BOGO coupon (limit $1.59) which they will allow you to use!
$1.89 x 2 = 3.78
- Free one advertised = $1.89
- Free BOGO coupon = $1.59
= $.30 for 2!
= $.15 each
Sobe $.30
Toothbrush FREE
soap FREE
green reusable bag giving away for FREE
TOTAL
$9.28 total paid
- $8.98 extra bucks for next time
So you can look at it 2 ways, similar to Walgreens
1). I only paid $.30 on this trip for everything you see
or
2). I invested this trip and then will save $8.98 on my next trip

Last weekend haul: Walgreens

So I pretty much got paid to shop at Walgreens, got everything for free at CVS and saved a bunch at Target...as Monk would say...here's what happened...

WALGREENS:

Watch the ad for things that give you register rewards (a coupon that you can take back and use next time. If you combine it with Walgreens and Manufacturers coupons, you can get free stuff or even overage.

I saw this toothbrush (who doesn't need a small stash of toothbrushes!) and it was free!

$3.29 - $3.50 RR = FREE + $.24

Thanks to reading my coupons blogs (listed on the right side bar) I found 2 free things that weren't in the ad last week.

These I found on stretchingabuck under monthly deals

Chapstick on sale for $1.99 - $2.00 RR = FREE + $.01

Skintamate on sale for $2.99 - $3.00 RR = FREE + .01

100 ct Walgreens coupon I received in the mail for a FREE bottle

So you can look at it 2 ways
1). I got everything in this trip for free & got some of my tax paid for
or
2). I invested in this trip and will save $8.50 on my next trip

If you continue to "roll" the register rewards (use some on a trip and get more in that same trip) you can make trips there and pay almost nothing! So now that I have some RR to use from this weekend & the weekend before, my next trip this week will be to see if I can use them when buying things I need that will be offering more RR!

Last weekend haul: Target

So I pretty much got paid to shop at Walgreens, got everything for free at CVS and saved a bunch at Target...as Monk would say...here's what happened...

TARGET:

Oreos: I usually only get these when they are on sale for $2.50..(this deal was a hair better)

On sale for $2.75 x 2 = $5.50 - $1.00 Target coupon/2 = $2.25 each

Dole salad:

Regular price = $2.99 / on sale for $1.99 -$1.00 Target coupon = $.99

Johnson's baby lotion

Regular $2.24 - $1.00 Manufacturer - $.75 Target = $.49

Market Pantry fruit snacks
Regular $1.77 / on sale for 1.44 - $1.00 Target coupon = $.44

Smart water (I only buy with a coupon)

$1.00 - $.50 Manuf = $.50

Orange Juice

On sale for $2.75 (reg $3.25) - $1.00 Manuf - $1.75

Pumice stone & face exfoliaters - on the clearance aisle! Watch those end caps, you can find great deals and when you have a coupon for something there, you can really make out!

total 25.21
I had $6.25 in coupons
------------------------------
the coupons alone saved me 25% on this trip!

If you add in that all but one of these things were on sale (remember, combine sale w/coupons) here's out it would turn out:

29.19
-3.98 due to sale prices
-6.25 coupons
---------
35% savings with sale prices & coupons

and I only bought 11 things!

(don't forget, I don't include my discount in these posts)

Walgreens savings (62%) & Target savings (73.3%)

So today I had to run out for a few things at Target and Walgreens for the house, so I checked a couple of blogs to see if there were any good deals in the ads this week. Boy did that pay off!
Here are the 3 super cool deals I found today:
Walgreens: Out of Pocket (OOP) = $3.98
This is a great example of how you can use coupons to get almost free brand name stuff and beat the generic price!
Visine allergy drops
regular price: 4.49...on sale for 3.99 and I had a 3.00 coupon from the paper = $.99
Tylenol Cold Rapid Release 24 Gelcaps
regular price: 7.49...on sale for 4.99 and I had a 2.00 printable (see Tylenol link on side bar) = 2.99
In the ad this week if you bought certain Visine & Tylenol products products you got 3.00 Register Rewards.
So.....here's how I ended up (before tax)
Total Regular Prices = $11.98
Sale Prices = $8.98
Total Coupons = $5.00
Total out of pocket = $3.98 for both items + Register Rewards to use on next trip = $3.00
=62% savings off regular price
=55.6% savings off sales price
-----------------------------------------------
Target: Out of Pocket (OOP) = $3.39 (before my 10% team member discount)
I never include my team member discount in the Target deals to show what you could save!
Yoplait Plus yogurt
regular price 2.29....marked down to 1.71 - 1.00 printable from coupons.com = .71
Dry Idea roll-on deodorant
regular price 2.74...marked down to 2.00 - 2.00 printable from coupons.com = FREE
Archer Farms mini artisan french baguette
regular price .99...marked down to .84 - 1.00 Target printable from afullcup.com Target Coupon Generator = FREE (no overage)
Hershey's Bliss Chocolate
regular price 3.99...on sale 2.99 - 1.00 Target printable from afullcup.com & 1.00 printable from hersheys.com = .99
Cheetos
regular price: not sure...price cut to 2.69 - 1.00 coupon from afullcup.com Target Coupon Generator = 1.69
So here's how I ended up (before tax & before my Target discount)
regular prices = 12.70
out of pocket = 3.39
total savings = 73.3%
(If I hadn't indulged in the Cheetos, this would have been an 83% savings)
Thanks to
Jane4Girls for the Target bread info and to Stretching A Buck for the deodorant info!
-------------------------------------------------
I also received an email rebate a while back for $5.00 rebate off a Norelco trimmer. Brad has been needing a new hair trimmer so I finally broke down and shopped for one tonight. Turns out, I found the Norelco all in one for the same prices as the other brands at Target -- it was 18.89.
I don't even know why I got the rebate in my email. I'm assuming it came because I am signed up for so many savings newsletters --- Wouldn't you just normally just buy a trimmer because you needed it and not even think about a rebate or coupon? It pays to know what you need and wait and look for the deals. With my email rebate, I saved.....
Before tax and discount
regular 18.89
rebate 5.00
savings = 26.4%
----------------------------------------
Total Savings today including Register Rewards and Rebate for everything in the picture= 56.7%

Blue Bunny coupon (iScream Team)

Here's another sign up coupon. It's off the premium ice cream, but if you have a place that it's fairly cheap or on sale, it can be a good deal.

At Target I bought it and it was cheaper than Archer Farms ice cream with the coupon.

Blue Blue iScream Team coupon

Restaurant.com

Another sale going on -- 60% of gift certificates

To get these in email each time they have a sale (sometimes up to 80%!) just sign up for their email list.

There aren't chain restaurants usually on here, usually local type places, but if they are ones you like to eat at, it's totally worth it!

Restaurant.com

Signups --- Tylenol

I am going to start posting every website I sign up for that gives you coupons and then start a list of them on the right side bar -->

Even if you don't use name brand things, sometimes if you hold them and wait until something goes on sale, you can get it cheaper than the generic. That's the name of the game! As cheap as possible or free!

$2 off any Tylenol product

4 free coupon books & and a revival of Dre Saves Money

I'm back! Revived and ready to save!

Finally a few of the rooms in the house are in order and I'm over the cold/flu and an allergy invasion! It's a fabulous Saturday to just sit down and catch up on some blog and coupon things!

So, there are no double or triple deals around here that I have found, but I'm on a mission to make my savings work here.

I have been prowling blogs and printable coupon websites to build up my coupon stash again. A lot of the ones I had expired....I have found some great Target coupons and combining them with manufacturer coupons when things are on sale, I think I'm going to be able to save big!

(Places to find printable Target coupons:)
Target.com coupon section

AFullCup.com Target Coupon Generator

I'll post what I find so my skeptical peeps in Iowa who think that since there are no double or triple deals, we can't do the same thing here can check out what I find! The good thing is that some things are a little bit cheaper here so you don't have to have the double or triple deals in order to save big.

Check out these 2 cool things I found at All You magazine's website.

1). There is a Daily Savings blog that has posts of great savings (look under Recent Posts). It looks like a great place to find free stuff!

2). One of the posts right now if for 4 free coupon books, on things you'll probably use all the time- This is great!
